Chapel Worship

Every Thursday morning our amazing worship team starts the chapel service. They also prepare special worship nights for glorifying and praising God. For the Christian student, worshiping God should be a daily thing. Psalm 100:1-2 says, ”Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth worship the Lord with gladness; come before Him with joyful songs.”

Forensics Lab

Recently, the forensics class did an interesting lab. They tested different soil samples from around campus to see if they could figure out where another team’s  soil came from. The students were intrigued as to how to do the steps of this lab. Teachers Mr. Swinney and Mrs. Newell guided the students on how to complete their tasks for this lab. In the end, the forensics students enjoyed this hands-on activity.

Teacher Assistants

If you’re ever wondering who grades some of your papers, it’s our wonderful teacher assistants! They are a huge help in sorting and filing papers and helping around the classroom. As well as teacher assistants, we also have office helpers. Our sophomore Trinity helps around the office, and when there’s nothing to do there, she goes to different classrooms to help.

Yearbook

As much as everybody looks forward to seeing the yearbook every year, it takes a lot of work. Thanks to our hardworking upperclassmen, we are able to get it done! Mr. West joins the class in the computer lab where they design layouts for the pages. Photographers are all around campus getting candid shots for individual pages, and our wonderful cover was designed by Junior Tyler Maj. The yearbook consists of about 64 pages, so if you’d like the opportunity to have some of your own pictures featured, please see Mr. West. “It takes a village not just one person.” – Mr. West.

Book Club

If you like to read and discuss books (while eating snacks), Book Club might be something for you next year. Not only do they read books during class, but they also have macaroni baking competitions. So far, they have read Wonder, The Western Games, Jurassic Park, The Art of War, and Animal Farm. They usually start a new book every 2 weeks and set goals for their reading. This elective is run by Miss Portervint; her wonderful assistant Emma Alonso helps out as well. They like to include some Christian books in their reading, but they don’t always read just Christian books. The age bracket is 9th-12th grade. Many of the returning students plan on taking this elective again next year. There are 2 seniors in Book Club, and they both said that they are happy with this elective. If you have an interest for next year, make sure to keep in touch because Miss Portervint is thinking of making it a girls only elective.

Lady Lions Basketball

Our Lady Lions basketball team worked so hard to make this a good season. Coach Ana inspired them all to work hard. She is such an amazing coach and has inspired the girls on her team even though they didn’t win many games. They tried their best and had fun while doing it. Coach Ana has helped many of the girls improve their skills and feel more comfortable on the court. We want to thank Coach Ana for all that she’s done for the girls basketball team and thank all of the players for trying their hardest and making the best of it!

Month of Love

February is a special month! This year especially calls for love to be spread all over the world by buying gifts, chocolates, and flowers for friends and loved ones. Today our Juniors, with the help of Mrs. Newell, held their annual fundraiser to spread love and kindness by helping the students at Central buy chocolates, balloons, teddy bears, and singing telegrams for their best friends, loved ones, and secret crushes–which is very nice and sweet. Thanks to all of our teachers and students for participating in this beautiful act of love.

Valentine’s Day Party

On Saturday, February 13th, Central’s seniors are hosting a Valentine’s Day Party at the school. Even people who do not attend CBCS are invited to come to the party. It will begin at 5 p.m. and end at 11 p.m. Some things that the party will include are arts and crafts, a movie, pizza, drinks, and an awesome nerf gun war. You can even bring your own nerf guns and bullets. Labeling your bullets is recommended so that you have all of them when you leave at the end of the night. The cost is $20 per person or $60 for a family of 3 or more to attend the party. This exciting event will be so much fun for the entire family.
