The Physical Fitness elective was newly introduced this year, and it has turned out to be an absolute success. Everybody has seemed to improve throughout the year. Although a majority of the group dislikes the cardio portion of the class, several of them enjoy the leg workouts. Coach Ana has given the group 12 free days this year. It’s not that strict, but the girls tend to work harder than the guys. Coach Ana is working to improve the elective for next year, so it is highly recommended!
Book Fair
This year the book fair was a little different. Instead of being able to buy books on campus, they were purchased online. We are so thankful for Mrs. Bateman–she was in charge of organizing everything. Mr. Salmeron, Mr. Rudd, and Mr. Alford also helped to advertise the book fair, and Mrs. Young posted information on Facebook. When asked how she felt about the book fair, Mrs. Bateman said that she was encouraged by the wonderful students who ordered books online. We asked her if she missed having the books on campus; most of all she missed seeing the students look through the actual books. Thank you to everyone who bought books ( a total of 375! ) and helped to make the book fair a success! Our library will be adding 15 new books to its shelves!
Mural Recognition
The mural has been done for a few weeks and is looking its finest in our school’s cafeteria. It is only right to recognize Mrs. Alford‘s art students who showed off their talents to accomplish this task.

Wizard of Oz
Our school’s Wizard of Oz play is coming up on the night of April 23rd. The leading role, Dorothy, will be played by Scarlett in the 8th grade. She is excited to be singing in the play. All of the actors are really exited to put on the play which makes each after school practice super important. While the actors are in the process of memorizing lines, other teachers and helpers are in the middle of starting the costumes and the stage set-up. Our own Mr. Salmeron and Mr. Alford composed the music in the play and will be handling the music and the sound during the performance. A word from our fellow Tin Man: ” Wait, there was practice today?” Make sure to be there to support your fellow classmates!
Terra Nova Testing
Terra Nova testing is right around the corner from April 5th to April 8th. The week ends with field day which takes place on Friday, April 9th. If you’re unfamiliar with Terra Nova, it’s a test separated into several parts in your academic subjects to see your comparison of learning pace to students across the state. These tests will happen each morning and end around 11am. Students will be taking them in their homeroom classes. Afterwards, MS and HS students will have 4 class periods instead of 6. Although these scores don’t go in the grade book, they do prepare you for the ACT, SAT, etc. Make sure to try your best and get a good night’s sleep!
Junior Disney Trip!
The Junior class went to Animal Kingdom on March 2nd. Unfortunately not everybody went on the trip, but the ones that did really enjoyed it. So they could have a full day of fun, they left school at 7:45am and got back around 9:30pm. While at the park , they saw animals, and went on rides such as Avatar, Flight of Passage, Everest, Rafiki’s Planet Adventure, and more. Each student got a custom t-shirt designed by the class. There were 13 students; Mrs. Newell supervised. The sophomore class will also be going toward the end of the year as this trip was a make-up for our previous sophomores last year.
The Coast
The Coast summer camp is coming up in a few months, so it’s about that time to submit your early registration deposit! A car wash fundraiser will be held on April 3rd. If you are in 6-12th grade, this may be the camp for you. Camp dates are June 20 to June 26th. Please turn in the deposit to Pastor Rondi Guess. There will be more details out soon, so stay tuned!
Baby on Board
One of the new additions to Central this year is Mrs. West. She is getting close to having her own “new addition.” Mrs. West is the wife of Mr. West, our new history teacher and they are well into the 7th month of pregnancy now. Their due date is April 9th. Interesting information: Mrs. West has been craving peanut butter throughout her pregnancy.
CBCS Flag Football!
Our CBCS flag football teams, both girls and boys, are almost through with their season. The girls team is coached by Coach Mary Maddox, and the boys team by Steve Tierney. Our boys team is made up of 4th-6th graders and the girls are 5th-8th. Both teams will be finished with their regular seasons, but the tournament starts soon. If either of our teams make the playoffs then the semi-finals will be on March 4th and the championship will be on March 11th. Both games will take place at the school of the team that had the best record in the regular season. You should come to the games if you want to support both our school and our teams. Both teams have done an exceptional job of representing our school and God throughout the season.
