The Lions Den

Lady Lions Beach Volleyball

Central has added a new sport that has everybody excited. This sport is Beach Volleyball. Beach Volleyball is a very tough sport, even tougher than regular volleyball, but it is fun in so many ways. All of the players do their absolute best. We just want to thank all of the players (Jenaya, Valeria, Ileanis, Haylee, Jenna, and Ashleigh), and of course, Coach Maddox. The next tournament will be held May 15 in St.Pete. We hope to see this sport again next year.

CBCS 2021 Hats!

Our school’s athletic department is currently doing a fundraiser of selling hats. These hats come in two colors: maroon and black. The hats will cost only $20 each and can be purchased from the office or the gym. The hats can be worn on all days of the week as long as they are not worn in the buildings. You can wear the hats for free in the buildings on days like Jean, Hat, and Hoodie Day. All the money they raise will go towards our athletic program. It will pay for things like new jerseys and equipment for our school’s sports. These hats are a great way to support our school and its athletics and also show your amazing school spirit!

CBCS 2021 Volleyball Camps

This summer our school’s Athletic Director Bill Williard is offering volleyball camp.  The goal of this camp is to give participants the opportunity to learn and practice their volleyball skills.  There will be three available camps: the first will be for 5th-9th graders on Saturdays only [May 15th-June 5th from 10am to 12pm], the second will be for 3rd-5th graders [Week of June 14th- 18th from 9am to 11am], and the final one will be for 6th-9th graders [Week of June 21st-25th from 9am to 11am]. The cost is $40 per camp, each lasting for 2 hours. Volleyball camp registration will be on a first-come basis.  If you would like to improve at volleyball, these camps are perfect for you!

Bookstore Adventures!

Our Book Club recently went on a field trip to Barnes and Noble. They spent time together browsing for books and eating lunch at the food court.  Miss Portervint purchased some Sherlock Holmes books.  The group got to see a Bible encyclopedia.  They were there from lunch until the end of the school day.  If you would like to take enjoyable trips like this next year, consider joining Book Club!

Leaving the Den

Central Baptist Christian School’s students have been working very hard to finish this school year.  What a great way to finish off the year than with a graduation ceremony!  We have two graduation days coming up:  HS Seniors graduate on Friday, May 14 and our Kindergarten students cross the stage on Tuesday, May 18.  Go Lions!

Sports Banquet

Central’s Sports Banquet is coming up on Friday, May 7th at 6:30pm.  Athletes and family of the athletes have obtained tickets and are ready for the festivities.  This year’s refreshments will be cake and other desserts.  Who will be honored this year?  Most Athletic?  Best Leadership?  Hustle? Christian Character?  What a celebration it will be!  Thanks to all of our coaches–staff and volunteers!  Thanks too goes to Coach Williard, Coach Maddox, and Coach Ana German!

Middle School Boys Basketball

Both of our boys basketball teams are nearing the ends of their seasons. This year Central has a JV team, which is 4th-6th grade, and a varsity team, which is 7th-8th. The JV team is coached by Michael Clarisa; and varsity, by Matthew Johnson. Both of these teams have done a fantastic job in their seasons so far.  Their final game was on April 27th and the tournament is starting next week. Both of our incredible teams made the playoffs so you can support them there. They are eager to compete in the tournament and give all the glory and honor to God.
